Anastasiya Arol — Silver Medalist at the European Championships in Istanbul!

On August 8, the women's final of the European Modern Pentathlon Championships took place in Istanbul, Turkey. This day brought two excellent pieces of news for Belarusian fans: Anastasiya Arol won individual silver, and the entire Belarusian women's team became bronze medalists in the team competition!

Individual Silver for Anastasiya Arol

Belarus was represented in the final by Anastasiya Arol, Mariya Gnedtchik, and Viyaleta Hureyeva. From the very start, Anastasiya Arol set a high pace. In fencing, she was the best, scoring 250 points . This brilliant start became the foundation for her success.

In obstacle racing, Anastasiya posted the seventh-best result (339 points), and in swimming she placed fourth (292 points), maintaining her position among the leaders. In the concluding laser-run, the Belarusian posted the seventh-fastest time (607 points) but finished second overall, bringing her final total to 1488 points .

Throughout the race, Anastasiya battled for gold with Turkish athlete İlke Özyüksel. In the end, the Turkish athlete proved stronger, scoring 1493 points and becoming European champion. Anastasiya Arol claimed the silver medal, finishing ahead of Hungary's Blanka Guzi (1485 points), who rounded out the podium .

Mariya Gnedtchik finished the final in 9th place with 1436 points, recording the third-best time in the laser-run (626 points). Viyaleta Hureyeva took 14th place (1389 points) .

Team Success: Bronze for Belarus

The performances of all three Belarusian athletes brought the team a medal in the team competition as well. The combined total of Anastasiya Arol, Mariya Gnedtchik, and Viyaleta Hureyeva amounted to 4313 points, which allowed the team to take 3rd place and win bronze medals at the European Championships .

On August 8, the men's final took place, where Belarus was represented by Uladzislau Melkaziorau. On August 9, the championships concluded with the mixed relay, where the Belarusian duo of Mariya Gnedtchik and Uladzislau Melkaziorau scored 1402 points and finished fifth .
