On August 4, the women's qualification for the European Modern Pentathlon Championships took place in Istanbul, Turkey. Eight athletes from Belarus took part in the competition: Violetta Gureeva, Maria Gnedchik, Milana Pevets, Irina Nikolaeva, Natalya Savenkova, Vera Khodkevich, Anastasia Orel, and Irina Prosentsova.
Following the qualification, which included fencing, swimming, obstacle racing, and laser-run, five Belarusian women advanced to the semifinals. The best result among our athletes was posted by Irina Prosentsova, who topped Group A with a total score of 1458 points. Also from this group, Anastasia Orel advanced to the semifinal, finishing in 10th place (1438 points).

In Group B, the Belarusian women also delivered solid results. Maria Gnedchik qualified in 8th place (1417 points). Violetta Gureeva finished 10th (1415), and Milana Pevets took 13th (1412). Unfortunately, Irina Nikolaeva, who finished 27th (1341), did not advance to the semifinal.

Thus, in the semifinals, where the top 18 athletes from each group advance, Belarus will be represented by five pentathletes: Irina Prosentsova, Anastasia Orel, Maria Gnedchik, Violetta Gureeva, and Milana Pevets.
On August 5, the women's ranking fencing will take place, which will determine the starting positions ahead of the semifinals. We wish our girls good luck and a brilliant performance!
On the same day, August 5, the men's qualification will begin. Eight Belarusian athletes will compete for spots in the semifinals: Vladislav Berezovik, Zakhar Sivitsky, Vladislav Nesterov, Ivan Khamtsau, Vladislav Melkozerov, Maxim Maruk, Evgeny Orel, and Maxim Fedotko. We also wish our men the best of luck!
