Two Belarusian Women to Compete in World Cup Final in Budapest: Gureeva and Malashenoka Continue Fight for Medals

Today, at the competition venues in Budapest (Hungary), the women's semifinal events of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final concluded. Following intense competition, Belarusian athletes Violetta Gureeva and Anastasia Malashenoka secured their places in the final, which will take place on June 28.

The competitions were held in two groups, and in each of them, our girls demonstrated a strong will to win, reaffirming the high caliber of the Belarusian school of modern pentathlon.


Group A

In fencing, German athlete Sitselle Leh claimed the top spot with 250 points. She was followed by Spain's Laura Heredia (244 points) and French athlete Louison Cazali (238 points).

In the obstacle discipline, Egyptian athletes set the pace: Zeina Amer (363 points) and Jana Attia (358 points) led confidently, with Louison Cazali once again taking third place (340 points). In swimming, Italy's Valentina Martinescu posted the fastest time (308 points), Hungary's Blanka Guzi took second (293 points), and Poland's Hanna Jakubowska rounded out the top three (292 points).

The final discipline — laser-run — brought victory to Turkey's Ilke Özyüksel (598 points). Second place went to Czech athlete Karolína Křenková (593 points), followed by France's Mathilde Derval (582 points) in third.

By the sum of all disciplines, the top three in Group A were: Hungary's Blanka Guzi (1436 points), Spain's Esther Fernández Donda (1433 points), and Mathilde Derval (1426 points). Violetta Gureeva delivered a consistent performance across all events and, with a result of 1421 points, took 7th place in her group, securing her spot in the final.


Group B

On the fencing piste, Turkey's Sidal Aslan was the best with 250 points, followed by Egypt's Ganah Elgindy (244 points) in second, and Guatemala's Paula Sofia Valencia Franco (238 points) in third.

In obstacle racing, Ganah Elgindy again proved strongest with 350 points, while Hungary's Emma Mészáros and Czech athlete Lucie Hlaváčková tied for second and third with 349 points each.

Special attention deserves Anastasia Malashenoka's performance in swimming. Our athlete posted the best result not only in her group but likely among all semifinal participants — 300 points! Second place in the discipline went to South Korea's Seungmin (297 points), followed by Paula Sofia Valencia Franco (296 points) in third.

The final event — laser-run — brought Anastasia another impressive success. The Belarusian finished second, trailing only Switzerland's Anna Jurt (590 points) and finishing ahead of Egypt's Ganah Elgindy (584 points). Anastasia's laser-run result of 587 points was among the best of the semifinals.

By the sum of all four disciplines, Group B was won by South Korea's Seungmin (1424 points), with Hungary's Emma Mészáros taking second (1422 points) and Guatemala's Paula Sofia Valencia Franco finishing third (1420 points).

Anastasia Malashenoka, with a result of 1416 points, took 6th place in the standings and, together with Violetta Gureeva, earned the right to compete in the final.
